Akadema Professional Series Baseball Gloves
The Akadema Pro Series leather is made from only Top Grain USA Steerhide and 1/4" thick USA Rawhide laces. It has the look of the big name gloves, but at a much lower price! We have offered this lineup for many years and seen negligible returns or negative comments. They arrive slightly stiff out of the box, break in quite rapidly and really hold their shape! My choice for the traditional and the old school player...Expect awesome quality!
Coach JP Says: The quality of Akadema Pro Gloves is equivalent to any Major Brand $200 baseball glove... Absolutely Guarantee

It was designed for professional shortstops, third basemen, second basemen, or pitchers. The two-toned APM-B42 Reptilian Praying Mantis catcher's mitt has a 32.5" circumference pattern with a spiral-lock web, open back and deep pocket.
The APM-B42 "Thunderpocket" design is for the catcher who likes the control and quickness of a slightly smaller mitt, allowing for increased times to second base. It's best for smaller players AND the catcher with great hands (due to smaller size).
The Akadema patent pending Praying Mantis is the most innovative catcher's mitt ever to hit the market, with many unique features setting it apart from the competition.
With the new "Stress Wedge" technology, located between the index finger and thumb, the Praying Mantis offers shock absorbing protection for the hand against injury and sting when receiving the ball.
The Praying Mantis also offers two additional "Finger Hammocks" allowing the fingers to be firmly positioned and more secure in the glove.
Additional features include the "Double-sided Slim Padding" allowing for increased pocket size and easier ball retention; Uniquely designed shape allows the throwing hand easier access into the pocket, resulting in a quicker glove to hand transfer and faster times to second base. The Praying Mantis also features a "Double Flexhinge" which makes the glove snap closed on contact.

What a great looking outfield glove! Note all the reinforced lacing along the high-wear areas above the thumb and index finger... This also assists in opening the thumb and index finger and helps the glove retain its great shape! Want an alternative to compare? The AXX-B21 12.75" Reptilian Claw was designed specifically for the professional outfielder. It features a modified fly-trap web, open back and deep pocket.
The glove's innovative features allow for more comfort, easier closing and increased pocket size. Professional outfielders have long been forcing their five fingers into three small fingerstalls while fabricating an artificial hinge into the thumb area of their glove to create a deeper pocket and easier close.
In response, the patent pending AXX-B21 Reptilian Claw offers three wider finger stalls, which are much larger than a regular glove, and a Doubleflexed Hinge for easier collapse points in the pocket. The Claw has a more natural feel for hand position and provides increased strength when closing the glove.
This is the game day glove of Cardinals outfielder Timo Perez.
This is one well thought out glove that just makes sense.
The creation of the Reptilian Series by Akadema is a combination of technology meeting evolution. The revolutionary web, pocket, and near finger-less design has many features to separate it from the normal baseball glove.
The Reptilian's near-fingerless design creates a natural air pocket which acts as a shock absorber for initial ball impact, making glove to hand transfer smoother and quicker. When the ball initially hits the glove, it makes a depression that allows the ball to sit longer in the glove. The near-fingerless design also acts as a shovel for easier ground ball scooping. With virtually no breaking points within the pocket, the Reptilian is designed to keep its unique shape longer than a regular glove. The Reptilian's leather looks and feels like snake scales which give better traction and grip for less ball spin.
Stretch out the fingers in your glove hand and quickly close it into a fist. Four fingers close in one direction and the thumb in yet another. Try this again and leave the index finger in a straight extended position. There is not nearly the amount of strength or quickness.
If you look at where the index finger is placed inside a normal outfielder's glove, you may notice that it seems placed at an angle where it has a difficult time assisting in the closing of the glove around the ball. Add a double hinge web that allows for extra ease in closing and now you get it! That is the idea of the AXX-B21.
It only feels odd the first time you put your hand inside the glove. Then you realize how smart this idea is.
I think you will see more pro guys carrying this model. And like all Akadema gloves, it is built as well as any high-line glove around!
