This great idea is really quite simple and took a full time ball manufacturer to get it right.
Balls get wet from morning dew, wet practice fields and games too. Leather wound balls (even good ones) suck up moisture causing the ball's core and seams to expand, never completely drying out.and the balls remain heavy & swollen from the trapped moisture.

Why Do We Need Them

You hate to throw them because they are tough on your arm, you hate to hit them because they sting hitters hands when mis-hit in the least (and they even seem to dent bats more easily - I have no idea if this is a fact or just my opinion) and you hate to throw them away but they are just plain terrible to use.

Pitching machines don't like them either! The diameter of a once-wet ball enlarges enough to feed inconsistently. Worse, they can wreak havoc on pitching machine wheels and motors shortening their useful lives.

What They Do

This All Weather Baden baseball will simply absorb less water than regulation baseballs.

And what is absorbed seems to virtually disappear within 24 hours!

In 15 minutes of wet play with a regulation baseball of 5.3oz., a ball will absorb enough water to weigh as much as 7oz!

Dried out for 24 hours (we generally just throw them all in a bucket and at most, leave the lid off) they will still weigh too much and now, the entire ball swells to a larger diameter. See our comparison chart.

So, do the math as they say and see if this ball makes sense for your team

It is amazing how many baseballs we throw away that still have life left in them...many times it is because they are water logged or have gotten wet enough that they are about worthless.and at $40-50 a dozen for a good ball it really does add up.
