Batter Up Portable Batting Cages Assembly Instructions
Prepare cage for setup
- Pull cage from bag.
- Stretch mesh out, making sure that straps are underneath the mesh.
- Assemble poles and lay them perpendicular to mesh at each row of loops.
Four poles come with the 24' cage; Five for the 32' cage.
- Start at one end and slide poles through the fabric loops along top of cage. (Each row of loops has a tie down string attached to the bottom loop on both sides.)
Erect your cage
- With a person on each side at one end of the cage, bend the pole carefully and put the end into the grommet supplied in the webbing along the bottom of the mesh.
- Put a spike in the ground approximately 6-8' away to attach the front tie down strings directly perpendicular to the front of the cage.
- Use the guy wire tighteners on the string to tighten the string so that it holds the first pole and the front of the cage up.
- There is a middle tie down string attached to the red loop in the middle of each end. It is secured to a spike approximately 10' from the end of the cage.
- Go to the next pole in line and repeat the process, except now the tie down strings are fastened to spikes you put in the ground at right angles from the front ones. (Make sure that the bottom of the mesh is stretched out to its natural length before you attach the tie down strings.)
- Do the same process for the rest of the poles. (It is advisable to hold the mesh with one hand as you go down the line, so the poles you have already put in place don't fall. The cage is not stable until both ends have been secured.)
- Make any adjustments necessary to the tie down lines and the bottom of the cage so that it is stretched properly and secure. A good tip to follow is to make sure that the pole ends form straight lines on both sides of the cage.)
Each time you set up the cage you will get better at it. It sometimes takes a few setups to learn how to adjust everything properly. Once adjusted properly and all the tie downs are good, the cage will be very stable, even in wind.
For indoor setup:
Use duct tape/sandbags to tape the end tie down strings to the floor.
Wrap the side tie down strings over the bottom end of each pole underneath the strap.
Use duct tape to tape the cage to the floor at all four corners.
Your new cage requires breaking in. When you first set it up the side walls will need stretching. You can do it by hand, by pulling the mesh apart, or/and by standing inside the cage and hitting baseballs off the side walls. It only takes 5 or 10 minutes and need be done one time. Please exercise caution if hitting balls inside the cage.
WARNING!!
Balls CAN and WILL be hit back through the pitching window. Be SURE to set the cage up so that any such balls will not be a danger to people or property.
