How fast does it throw?
Speeds are adjustable depending on a player's hitting level. The maximum ball speed is about 35 MPH, but because the machine is positioned only 20 feet away, the reaction time is equivalent to a 90-mph pitch!
How do you change speeds?
The machine's motor operates at full speed at all times, but an airflow valve system regulates how much air enters the tube which pitches the ball. The valve's sliding gate (like an aperture on camera) is very simple to use, and enables the Grand Slam to have a range of speed control from almost zero to full speed.
Is there an auto feeder?
Yes, the machine's rotating reservoir automatically feeds balls to the machine so that a pitch is released every 6 seconds. The reservoir can hold up to 100 balls, but we recommend using 48 at a time so it won't jam.
What type of motor is used?
The Grand Slam uses a durable 4.0 HP Shop Vac blower to throw a pitch every 6 seconds. You don't need to buy a tripod, as the machine comes with its own stand, which is made out of heavy duty PVC piping.
What is the warranty?
The Grand Slam has a lifetime warranty. If there is ever a problem, the manufacturer will repair it or send a replacement.
Is it powered by a rechargeable battery?
No, the Grand Slam must be plugged in at all times so you will need to be near a regular electrical outlet. If you want a golf ball-sized pitching machine that uses rechargeable batteries, buy the Personal Pitcher.
Does it have any other uses?
You can also use the Grand Slam to improve fielding, as a 45 degree elbow (included) enables the machine to "throw" grounders and fly balls.
