Soft Toss, Toss Drills, Flip Drills…whatever you want to call them…every player will take countless thousands of hacks in toss stations over the course of his career.

From age 9 and on, it is a staple of every coach, team and program before games and in practice.

The idea is simple…groove a player’s muscle memory by simply swinging at a ball tossed underhanded at a 45 degree angle by a coach or teammate. The throw is arced slightly and can be aimed at the front leg when working on hitting to the player’s natural field. Additionally, it can be tossed elsewhere to simulate hitting to other fields.

A real advantage is hitting hundreds of balls in a short timeframe and not having to collect them. Requiring only 2 players (tosser and hitter) is another reason coaches love these drills!
