This new patented ball overcomes most objections that some old-school baseball guys have had with dimple baseballs and softballs. The white-ball alone is a good idea. The red seams make it perfect!
The patented part of this new Baden ball and the most exciting concept is that the ball is molded so that the batter sees the red "seams" (which are actually indented and painted red). Now you can practice picking up the spin earlier and get other visual clues too... This leads to quicker pitch recognition, better contact and more hard hit balls.
Let me say this first, I really like using machine pitch dimple balls, but the inherent problems and the misconceptions about them actually have merit. So I do understand when coaches or players tell me that dimple balls are bad.
Once again, good and cheap don't go together and I can't speak for any other brand or manufacturer of these balls, just our own. We know that what we carry is of high quality and since there's no standardization in these balls and they are so mass-produced overseas, even some brands you may recognize might not be as good as I would hope or frankly as good as I would offer my customers.
My recommendation is that when you find a good ball, buy and re-buy by that same ball.
And none of our dimple balls will damage or dent your high-end metal or wood bat!
We handle thousands of these same balls every season. I do not recall any customer who has had a complaint issue in any recent season...and our re-orders increase each season without issue
Machine pitch balls, dimple balls or dimples are just different words that generally refer to the same thing. These injection-molded, usually yellow, rubber practice balls that you see used most frequently in commercial batting cages.
Machine pitch balls also refer to a certain new leather-covered ball with flat or very low profile seams which are usually made from Kevlar, a bullet proof material, rather than cotton. This ball was developed for those who preferred hitting a leather ball that most resembled any regulation baseball or softball without the premature wear that regulation balls take from pitching machines and in batting cages.
