90 MINUTES: Hitting Team Defense & Pitchers Practice -3 30 min sessions
Break down and organize as shown below.
Session #1 (30 Min.)
Place starting lineup in field, extras will hit as in a game, begin with 2 strikes, run it out and play every ball as in game situation.
Coach does most of the pitching and talks over every situation before pitch, making corrections after the play. Have coaches at first and third.
Session #2 (30 Min.)
Replace five players in field and play ball just like first 30 minutes.
You may use your pitchers to pitch at half speed; work on delivery, changing speeds and location.
You may want to let hitters know what is coming.
Again as always begin with 2 strikes.
Session #3 (30 Min.)
Replace all other starters with other extras and repeat as in the first two sessions.
Spring Training Notes:
Time your players on 60 yard dash & post their times!
Do this 1 time each week during early training.
After your club is in shape, pair off players with a partner with comparable 60 times & have them race each other from here on to watch ‘em compete and push each other to better times!.
