Build great plate discipline by simply swinging this training bat, rather than your own game bat.
The skinnier & smaller wooden barrel "sweetspot" will gently force players away from swinging at bad pitches that they can't get good wood on and leads to weakly hit balls.
The SweetSpot performs its mission when the player either misses the ball altogether due to having a long, skinny fiberglass handle or by getting a small but convincing case of the "bees" (that uncomfortable sting you get in your hands when a ball is struck incorrectly.especially in colder weather).

As a hitter...you cannot control getting a hit
What you can control is to hit the ball HARD somewhere!
That means hitting it on the Sweet Spot of the bat
You swing at bad pitches.instead of pitches inside the strikezone.your chances of succeeding in this game get reduced.and next season the pitchers get even better.while you may still be swinging at bad balls.
Today's jacked-up aluminum bats have a sweet spot that is huge.but still, if you hit it on a less desirable place on those bats.you get a u-turn back to the dugout.
How about practicing instead with a reduced size sweet spot.taking regular swings with this trainer.you have just got to develop a better eye for fatter pitches.
I recommend this for all ages but I really like this idea for younger players for two additional reasons; because they can be trained correctly at an earlier age AND it is almost impossible to find a wood bat (which I am a huge fan of training with) that is light enough. This baseball training bat is -10 oz.(meaning that it is 10 ounces less than its length).as in aluminum bat-light!
I can't think of a player this training aid can't help!
