ABOUT THE COACH
Larry Giangrosso Larry Giangrosso has coached his alma mater, the UAB Blazers, since 1999 and is a member of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He has been a guest speaker at the American Baseball Coaches Association national convention (1999) and has conducted several clinics on catching.

Prior to accepting the job at UAB, Giangrosso started the baseball program from scratch at Central Alabama Community College. In his nine years at CACC, 90 of his 102 players (88.2%) who played two seasons earned scholarships to four-year schools, including every sophomore from 1995 to 1999. Giangrosso began his coaching career in 1975 at Berry High School in Hoover, AL and stayed there until 1990.

Giangrosso played for UAB as a catcher in 1973 and 1974, graduating from the Birmingham school in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He earned a master's degree in physical education in 1977.
