ABOUT THE COACH
Jerry Weinstein is presently an assistant coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he is in charge of pitchers and catchers. He came to Cal Poly after serving as Director of Player Development for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2000 and 2001, after serving as the Dodgers' catching coordinator in 1999.
Weinstein filmed this video during his tenure with the Sacramento City College Panthers, whom he piloted for 23 seasons, earning him admittance into the California Community College Baseball Hall of Fame. Weinstein compiled an 831-208 (.800) record at Sacramento City College, and won 16 conference championships, two co-conference titles, and a national crown in 1998. Twenty-four of Weinstein's players at Sacramento City College went on to play professional baseball.
Weinstein has also been a coach with two USA Olympic baseball teams ('92 & '96), coached minor league teams for the Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos and Chicago Cubs, and served as an assistant coach at the University of Miami and UCLA, where he earned his master's degree in kinesiology.
